How do I use the photo gallery software?

This is a step by step walkthrough on the whole process of creating a photo gallery and adding images to it.

Creating Albums (categories) for your photos

If you want to create a new gallery category (ie. Church picnic, Christmas play) you must do the following:

If not already logged in, Login to the front-end control panel by going to the home page of your website.
Click on Photo Gallery Admin from the USER MENU

You will see 4 different links at the top right of the gallery (depending on your version of the gallery software)

New Album
Click on New Album

A new page will open up, with the words “Hey! Add some photos” in the middle of the page. If you can click on those words, please do, otherwise...  on the right hand side of the page just up above that is a dropdown menu called 'admin options'. Click that dropdown menu and choose 'add photos.'

A window will pop up with 6 tabs in it to choose from. Each tab is a different way to upload photos to your photo gallery.

We recommend the Applet (big) tab as the way to upload files.

The following instructions are for this Applet (big) tab.

Click on the Applet (big) tab. A java security screen will pop up asking you if you want to go further. Click yes.

A window will open up titled Gallery Remote. In this window you will see all your album titles. Click once on the title of the one you want to add photos too (will probably be called untitled since you have not had the chance to name the album yet).

Now click on Add pictures… at the bottom of this window.  Find all the photos you want to upload, highlight them all, and click on Add.
Now check the box on the right that says 'resize before upload'
Now click on the Upload Pictures button, located at the bottom right of that window. Once it has finished uploading and processing all your pictures, close that window as well as the popup window with the 6 different tabs.

Refresh the browser that has your website in it to see the photos that were uploaded to your site.



Naming your Photo Album


Assuming you are still in the window that is showing thumbnails of all the images you just uploaded, click on the link at the top right of the page underneath the ‘slideshow’ link that has the name of your church’s gallery (ie. Crossroads Church Photo Gallery). This will take you to the screen where you can now edit that specific photo gallery’s album name.

Click on edit title, located right next to the title of your album, which right now is called “Untitled.”

Login to the website (if you are not already) by going to the home page of your website (ie. www.yourchurchname.com) and entering your username and password under the member login section.

Click on Photo Gallery Admin from the USER MENU

You will see your photo albums that you’ve already created, represented by a thumbnail of the first photo in the album. Next to that album thumbnail are the following options:

[delete album] [move album] [reorder album] [rename album] [edit captions] [permissions] [properties]
 

Editing Individual Photo Properties

Login to the website (if you are not already) by going to the home page of your website (ie. www.yourchurchname.com) and entering your username and password under the member login section.

Click on Photo Gallery Admin from the USER MENU

You will see your photo albums that you’ve already created, represented by a thumbnail of the first photo in the album. Click on the thumbnail of the album where the pictures you want to edit are located.

Underneath each photo will be a dropdown menu in which you can do many things with the photo (delete, edit description, move, reorder, hide, rotate, highlight, change owner, copy)
